Goodbye for now 🥹

Hello friend,

Apologies for the slight delay in getting this to you. You know how life likes to, life. And one thing I wasn’t going to do was rush this.

I’ll keep today’s email short-(ish) and sweet, as you now have a mini SELFHOOD guide you can start working your way through — 13 separate pages of prompts, reflections, and ideas to explore.

What I will say is this:

Who you are is a layered, ever-evolving, one-of-a-kind, magnificent thing, too often mistaken for just “little old me.”

Aside from my own personal journey with identity, I became obsessed with this work because of the sheer amount that goes into who we are and how we show up in the world — so much of it we never touch, question, or even consider.

One of my favourite quotes, and one that has guided so much of my work, is by Wallace D. Wattles (if you’ve been around for a while, you’ll have heard me mention it before)

“The very best thing you can do for the whole world is make the most of yourself.”

Now, how you and I interpret this might be very different. But for me, it means: we need you to start unapologetically doing you.

Because you doing you helps the rest of us more than you know.

In tactical terms, making the most of yourself might mean:

Quitting the job that drains you and finally setting up that bakery business (that provides us with cakes that remind us of our grandma).

It might mean signing up for improv or singing lessons (which inspires us to finally try out for that football team).

It might mean facing your mental health struggles and getting support (which allows the people who love you to take a breath).

It might mean spending more time out in nature, building new friendships, learning a new skill or language, or going all in at the job you’ve been half-assing.

It might mean so many things.

What the “most” looks and feels like is only something you can decide.

Which is exactly the point.

That you are honestly and intentionally deciding how you want to show up in the world.

And to do that well, it requires you to be in good relationship with yourself.

To see yourself clearly.
To listen to yourself.
To understand yourself.

And to keep checking in as life (and you) evolve.

My hope has always been that this work has given you a little helping hand in doing exactly that — offering different angles and perspectives through which to witness and meet yourself.

So, regardless of the theme or the prompt, that is what every email has been doing: helping you peel back some of the layers and threads that make up the unique secret sauce of you.

Also known as: your selfhood.

(I said this email would be short-ish, not short.)

So I hope this guide helps you continue to do just that.

This work is a huge layer of who I am, so it’s something I know I’ll return to time and time again. It’s just that other parts of me are asking for more attention in this season of life, and me “making the most of myself” means allowing myself to prioritize those for now.

I’m so grateful to have explored alongside you all these weeks, months, and years. And I look forward to the next time our paths cross.

In the meantime, you have my email. If anything comes up you’d like to share, or think I’d be interested in, you know where to find me.

Until then, keep exploring.

I’ll see you on a Sunday,
L
