How to find meaning in your life

You may be looking for it in the wrong place...

Hiiii 👋🏾

Welcome to another SELFHOOD Sunday.

I hope you’re cozy and hydrated, ready for a lil reflection and introspection.

You know the deal…

It’s time for some Sunday self-exploration!

And today we’re starting with a few questions I have for you.

The lesson and dare will follow.

[3 QUESTIONS ]

  1. When you think about your life having meaning, what instantly comes to mind (specifically what does it look and feel like)?

  2. Do you currently wait for moments of meaning, or create them?

  3. When was the last time you paused to notice something beautiful in your daily routine? (and what was it?)

[A LESSON]

We live in a world that loves the big moments—promotions, weddings, huge life events. Which is cool’n all, but it has us forgetting that some of the deepest meaning in life comes from the everyday.

We’ve been conditioned to believe that purpose is found only in these grand milestones, but an existentialist perspective flips that narrative.

…and reverses it

(I can’t be the only one who went there) 😅

Existentialists believe that meaning isn’t something that the universe gives us, but something we create.

Instead of waiting for life’s big moments to give you purpose, what if you embraced the small ones? The little everyday routines that, in their simplicity, offer so much depth.

The power in small things is that they help us stay grounded in the present.

In a world where we’re constantly looking toward the next big thing, small moments remind us to slow down, reflect, and appreciate what’s right in front of us. These daily rituals and seemingly “insignificant” experiences—like a morning coffee, a walk in the park, or a few minutes spent reading a book—become ways to connect with ourselves.

This was last week in Porto, with my mum…

…how could you not find meaning in this?!

They remind us that life is not just bouncing from one big highlight to another, but a collection of smaller moments that shape who we are.

By choosing to find meaning in these small moments, we reclaim our ability to experience fulfillment daily, instead of reserving it for life’s grander occasions.

[A DARE]

I dare you…

I dare you to pick one “small” thing in your day—something you normally overlook—and focus on it this week. Let it be your moment of mindfulness, reflection, or joy.

Remind yourself how much meaning you ALREADY have in your life!

Let me know what comes up for you—I always love hearing your reflections.

See you on a Sunday!

PS: I talked about this on Monday in a TikTok post. Yes, it’s official, we are on the TOK.

One of the things I’m currently finding meaning in is doing more things outside of my comfort zone. So if you’re also on that side of the internet - let’s hang out there too
